In Kenya, one is bound to carry along many government cards to acquire different services. The Kenyan administration settled on covering all this data into a single source that needs one card in identifying the individual. NIIMS Huduma Namba is presently being hosted to bring consistency as it will function as a unique proof of identity number.
Huduma Namba will be important as no government services will be availed without the huduma number. Here is the NIIMS latest news on registration requirements, centres, forms and deadlines.
What is NIIMS Huduma Namba?
NIIMS is an acronym for the National Integrated Identity Management System. It is a mass biometric system of recording that has been introduced by the Kenyan government to create, maintain and store data on the country’s population. The NIIMS registration is conducted purely offline, but then again the data obtained from individuals is stored online.
Once a person is registered on NIIMS, they are issued with the Huduma Namba which will then be used in different avenues of their interactions.
Requirements for registration
To register under the NIIMS and attain the Huduma Namba, you are expected to carry original copies of identification papers. This include:

- KRA pin
- Birth certificate
- Driving license
Moreover, more importantly, one must be physically present at the Huduma Namba station.
Types of data stored in NIIMS
The NIIMS system will acquire data of all Kenyans aged six years and above, and also of foreigners living in Kenya.
After you have presented information about your postal address, land reference number and house or plot number, NIIMS will be placed to integrate GPS monitoring for all people applying for new identification cards.

Registration process of Huduma Number
The registration for NIIMS Huduma Namba has not yet been availed to a secure online registration platform since an individual has to be physically present in a recording centre.
If one cannot establish a registration centre, that includes the 2017 elections voting centre, go to your sub-chief office, sub-county office or nearest place of residence of the chief’s office.
In the registration centre, the following procedure is conducted:
- An individual fills in a copy of the Huduma Namba form that will carry your bio-data, photo and biometrics,
- The clerk will use the registration device to conduct a full fingerprint enrolment.
- Capture your photo.
- Relevant documents that include the hard copy form you filled in are then scanned.
- The captured data is stored in offline storage and then transferred to a staging server.
From the staging server, the information is then moved to a Biometric Master Data storage which is a database server. Data is then cleaned by way of matching and verifying the personal data from the MCDA Individual database.
The wrong information is rejected while correct and matching data is quickly verified and stored.
