Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has warned opposition chief Raila Odinga that come 2022 he will go for the Presidency alone and will not back anyone.
He further took a dig at the former Prime Minister
who famously labeled him a watermelon saying, “they are the seeds themselves.”
“I’ve in the past thrown my weight behind leaders from other communities, and now it’s my turn to reach out to all Kenyans to support my candidacy.
“I’ll reach out and engage with my colleagues in NASA as well as all other leaders, including our retired Presidents Daniel Moi , Mwai Kibaki and even President Uhuru Kenyatta for support.

“I’ve been called all sorts of names, but I do not take offence. If you hear them calling Kalonzo a watermelon, tell them they are the seeds themselves,” he remarked during a conference in Machakos County on Monday.
Musyoka also hinted that his 2022 bid will not be pegged on Odinga’s backing, sentiments that were also echoed by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and former Senator Johnson Muthama .
Ngilu stated that it was high time the Kamba community spoke with one voice and promised to mobilise resources in her county to support Musyoka.
“Wiper is a strong party. I should have come to be baptised here but I will come another day. Even Narc is Wiper. I am for the unity of the Akamba.
“We need to speak with one voice. I was the main voice opposed to our son in the past, but now I am fully behind him,” she asserted.
Muthama, on the other hand, jumped to Kalonzo’s defence saying he was facing unfair criticism for skipping Raila’s oath-taking ceremony in January.
“I was the co-chair of the swearing-in planning committee, alongside Siaya Senator James Orengo of ODM and Ford-Kenya’s Kimilili MP, Dr
Simiyu Eseli.
“Why are people bashing my party leader alone instead of seeking answers as to why we all stayed away?” he asked.
