The United States new Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter has expressed President Donald Trump’s engagement to closely work with Kenya in weeding out corruption in the Jubilee government.
Responding to questions from Kenyans on Twitter, Kyle singled out Deputy President William Ruto as one of the stakeholders he plans to work within the anti-graft crusade spearheaded by the two nations.
The Swahili-speaking envoy came under vicious attack when a photo of him with Ruto appeared online after they held discussions at the latter’s Karen home on Tuesday, March 26.
In his defence, the former Illinois senator who took over from Bob Godec noted war on the theft of taxpayers’ money could not be left in the hands of the Directorate of Public Prosecution and Directorate of Criminal Investigations alone.
The US representative sought to explain he will involve everyone and stand firm to see corruption does not rob Kenyans of economic and democratic benefits.
“I will work with all stakeholders in order to achieve peace, safety, and prosperity for both the USA and Kenya. DP Ruto has the ability and position to deliver this. Besides, if I only worked with perfect people I would be very lonely, staying at home every day with my imperfect self,” he replied.
