Suna East Member of Parliament (MP) Junet Mohamed has revealed National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga’s plan concerning Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential ambitions.

Speaking to Standard, Junet divulged that the Opposition leader has put the deputy president on a ‘wait-and-see list’ which will help them determine whether or not they will support him for 2022.

“We are putting him on the wait-and-see list. We will decide his fate later. We are like teachers, we want to see how he behaves. If he behaves and stops being naughty, we will give him good grades and promote him to the next class,” Junet exclaimed.

However, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has warned Kenyans to be careful claiming that Junet’s statement is an implication that Raila will have a hand in the 2022 succession politics.

“Kenyans should read very carefully what Junet Mohamed says in this interview.

“According to my understanding Junet in few words is saying BABA will decide who will be your President in 2022,” noted the lawyer.

In the interview, the legislator further highlighted that the ODM leader is not worried by the fact that some of his party members endorsed the deputy president for 2022.

“There’s no problem with that (endorsement). But people should always keep it in their minds that voters don’t vote for them, they vote for Baba. As MPs, we just hold the votes on behalf of Baba.

“If you oppose Baba, he has no time to deal with you, the voters will deal with you,” he asserted regarding the Coastal MPs who endorsed Ruto.

Last Sunday, DP Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid received a boost from five NASA leaders from the coastal region who declared they would support him.
