President Kenyatta’s much awaited tour to the lake region since his re-election has now been confirmed.

Uhuru will be accompanied by the opposition chief Raila Odinga and several other political leaders from the Nyanza region during the major tour.

Exposeke.com has reliably learnt that the president and the former Kenyan prime minister will jointly launch a number of mega projects in different counties in Nyanza during the tour.

Affirming the visit, CS Eugene Wamalwa said that theduo  will launch a KSh 2.1 billion water project in Siaya County, among other major projects.

As per Wamalwa, who formerly served as the Cabinet Secretary for water, the big project will provide fresh water to over 200,000 residents of Siaya.

Wamalwa mentioned that the Uhuru and Raila tour was a part of their peace initiative directed towards uniting Kenyans while at the same time implementing the president’s development projects also called the Big Four agenda.

“Unity of purpose should be our focus as this will also bring about development and prosperity to our country,” Wamalwa mentioned during a fund-raising ceremony at Sirembe Mixed Secondary School in Siaya County on  May 13.

The Devolution CS did not say the exact date when the president and the former prime minister will make their visit to Nyanza.

Nyanza region has been waiting for the two leaders since the famous Harambee House handshake which took Kenyans to a surprise on March 9, 2018, during which the duo agreed to put an end to their bitter political rivalry and work together towards bringing Kenyans together after a divisive electioneering 2017 period.

The handshake has been a topic of heated political debate with a number of leaders from the Jubilee Party warning Uhuru to be careful with Raila.

Other leaders for instance Senator Kithure Kindiki expressed fears that the new-found partnership between Uhuru and Raila could alter with the ruling party’s 2022 plan.

Talking to one  local TV station on March 11, Kindiki hailed Uhuru’s reconciliation talks with Raila but cautioned that anything beyond the agreement they signed could have serious political consequenses.
